ANDREJA VIDMAR (b. 1970) earned a degree in English and Slovenian and has taught English at the Anton Martin Slomšek Diocesan High School in Maribor, Slovenia, since 2000. Her debut poetry collection, Out of Touch (Iz nedotika), was published in 2023, and her work has appeared in Literatura, Mentor, Kralji ulice, Vrabec Anarhist, LUD Literatura, and Radio Ars’s Literary Nocturne.
Vidmar has contributed extensively to local and international initiatives supporting disadvantaged communities. She served as a language educator for the international Poets of Today – Voices of Tomorrow project and has long organized community-focused musical and educational programs, including annual performances for individuals in correctional facilities in Maribor. Internationally, she has led creative projects at a refugee center near Kampala, Uganda, empowering young adults through creative writing. Her students continue to explore themes of social justice and equality in workshops, with their work planned for publication in a special collection.
In addition to her teaching and literary work, Vidmar has performed for over thirty years with the female vocal group Vivere, appearing in concerts both in Slovenia and internationally. Her personal interests include music, dance, literature, and travel, particularly to the southern regions of the countries she visits.
