LILIANA MERCAU is a multimedia artist based in Jerusalem, working across sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, and collage. Born in Villa Mercedes, in the Argentine province of San Luis, she grew up between a Polish-Jewish mother and a father of Comechingón heritage, a well-known anti-Peronist. She studied at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba from 1970 to 1974, years of mounting political turmoil in which many people close to her were repressed or "disappeared". That history continues to shape her attention to memory, absence, and the traces the past leaves behind.

In her collages, Mercau weaves painting with found and ready-made images, transforming fragments of the everyday through color, texture, and juxtaposition until the line between painting and object dissolves. Personal memory, cultural history, and visual imagination converge in a single frame.
