MAVI ABRIL, based in Spain, is a photographer specialising in documentary photography and artistic self-portraits. Although she is finishing her Fine Arts studies in Valencia (Spain), she also studied photography at Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku (Faculty of Intermedia/Photography) in Gdańsk, Poland.
Her photographs address questions such as beauty and femininity through self-portrait, identity, the passing of time, traditions and visual metaphors, always connected by a poetic reflection born from her passion for contemporary poetry.
Documentary photography has been her source of inspiration and personal development. ‘’Every time I travel I feel that the streets hide something, and I feel the need to succumb to their customs and their culture; that is why my photographs bring out my more human side, and I find myself interested in how different spaces that surround us influence our moments of privacy and loneliness, that loss and loneliness that lives with us, despite the seemingly crowded world before our eyes’’.
She has participated in different collective exhibitions in Spain, however among his artistic achievements, she stands out for exhibiting his photographs internationally at the ‘’Monaco Art Fair’’ 2021, collaborating with Monat Gallery.
More of her work may be found on her IG account and her webpage.
