ARTITAYA (formerly Piyarat Piyapongwiwat) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans moving images, installation, and various media to explore social, economic, and environmental themes. Initially employing a documentary approach to capture diverse perspectives, she has consistently challenged societal narratives and power structures.
Artitaya holds a BFA from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier Agglomération, France, and has received prestigious awards, including the Japan Foundation Asia Center Fellowship (2017) and the 23rd Silpa Bhirasri Creativity Grant (2024). Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions such as the 6th Asian Art Biennial (Taiwan) and the 12th Gwangju Biennale (South Korea), and is included in prominent collections like the Singapore Art Museum.
In recent years, Artitaya has expanded her practice into programming and new media, integrating data and machine learning to examine narratives and power structures within society, ecology, and technology. Through this evolving approach, she continues to challenge dominant paradigms, offering critical perspectives on interconnected global issues.
