IGOR KOLAROV was born in 1973 in Belgrade, Serbia. He authored five books, including two children's books Snow White's Stories and Militza in the Garden, a volume of poetry, Eastern Chronicles, and two youth novels, Agi and Emma and Twelfth Sea. He has published poems and prose in various journals and magazines. His work has been included in several anthologies of contemporary Serbian literature. Some of his poems have been translated into English and Russian. His book Agi and Emma won an award for the best book in Serbia in 2003 and it was later adopted for film. Igor was the recipient of multiple awards, including the Politikin Zabavnik, Neven, Sima Cucić, and Mali Princ awards. In 2006 he also received the Zmaj Children Games award for outstanding creative contribution to contemporary expression in youth literature, as well as the Golden Badge of the Cultural and Educational Community of Serbia, in 2009, for creative contribution to the promotion of culture. In 2006, Igor sent the editor of this journal a selection of his poetry to be published in Sirena: Poetry, Art, and Criticism (JHUP); some of these are now being published here. Igor Kolarov died in 2017 at the young age of 44.
