AUGUSTO DE LUCA (Naples, July 1, 1955) is a photographer and performer. He turned professional in the mid-1970s and has worked in traditional photography while experimenting with a range of materials. His style pays close attention to framing and to the smallest expressive units of what he frames. Images of plain realism sit beside others in which forms and signs answer one another, recalling the lessons of Metaphysical painting. He has exhibited widely in Italy and abroad. His photographs are held in public and private collections, including the International Polaroid Collection (USA), the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Paris), the Municipal Photographic Archive of Rome, the National Gallery of Aesthetic Arts of China (Beijing), the Photographic Archive of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, and the Museum of Photography in Charleroi (Belgium).
