Languages fall silent. Archives are buried. Histories are rewritten. Names are erased. Yet memory persists, and against disappearance, art and literature become acts of witness.

On 30 August, the United Nations observes the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, honoring those who have vanished and affirming the right to truth, justice, and remembrance.
