JOYCE MELANDER is an artist whose work centers on the constructed object. Drawing on processes such as weaving, crochet, embroidery, and sewing, she carries traditional craft practices into the context of fine art. Her intricately assembled sculptures emphasize structure and repetition, transforming labor-intensive techniques into spatial and tactile forms.
Melander works with a wide range of materials, bringing together wool, glass beads, textiles, and wood veneers in compositions that suggest rhythm, pattern, and quiet musicality. Her work is held in numerous public collections across the United States and has been exhibited at galleries and institutions including June Kelly Gallery, New York; Salon de Mars, Paris; the Tennessee State Museum, Nashville; and Aaron Payne Fine Art, Santa Fe.
