LUIYO VÁZQUEZ was born in 1956, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After completing his schooling, he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a degree in architecture and urban planning in 1981. During his student years, he developed a strong affinity for drawing and honed his skills in freehand techniques.

In the early 1980s, he attended architectural drawing workshops led by architects Minond and Borghini, a drawing workshop with the esteemed Hermenegildo Sabat, and a painting workshop under the master Carlos Gorriarena. These formative experiences laid the foundation for his consistent artistic practice, which began taking shape through solo and group exhibitions.

One notable collaboration was forming the group "La Yeca," dedicated to urban drawing. The group organized several exhibitions in Buenos Aires, including at cultural centers and the renowned Centro Cultural Recoleta and the Department of Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires, in 1985. Two years later, he presented his solo exhibition “Monumento a la Bicicleta” at the Centro Cultural Recoleta.

Between 1980 and 1988, he taught design and drawing at the University of Buenos Aires's Architecture and Graphic Design programs. His works were recognized in prestigious competitions, including Manliba, Clarín, Pilot, and Cayac. In 1995, he received a special mention for Ritos Urbanos at the Centro Cultural Recoleta. Internationally, his pieces were selected for the Barcardi Awards in Spain (1991) and the Marbella Biennials of 1989 and 1991.

From 1993 to 1996, he returned to teaching, working in the Architecture program at the University of Buenos Aires.

In 1998, he settled permanently in Marbella and dedicated himself to architecture and the visual arts, with a strong focus on urban themes. He became an active participant in groups such as Urban Sketchers Málaga and Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires, frequently participating in events in these cities and at global Urban Sketcher conferences.

In recent years, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He co-authored the book Marbella: An Urban Case Study alongside journalist and writer Michel Cruz and international photographer Wayne Chasan. This publication offers a visual and narrative exploration of Marbella’s iconic moments.

He is currently an active member of the art collective “La Kavra”, contributing to the vibrant art scene in Marbella.
