Untitled summer reminiscence

Seven summers ago

We both stared at the late evening skies

Noticed the same things

Like when the moon was a quarter

Or a ripe round full

Seven summers ago

We lovers could hold a gentle gaze

Cars weren’t possessed by local ghosts

Stirring a storm

Raising dust wherever they passed

Seven years ago

Is algebraic formula calculation

For middle school kids

If x is my age now

I tell them to calculate…

Seven years ago

Sits on my present

Like time sitting on the sting of a bee

On both sides of my exposed arms

In a sleeveless floral dress
