Artist Statement

My practice is grounded in traditional realism, using close observation and natural conditions to explore the subtleties of human expression and experience. I work primarily in graphite, charcoal and oil, moving between commissioned portraiture and personal work.

Self-portraiture allows for a more private and sustained form of attention. Through it, I hope to explore psychological nuance and the recurring question of identity, focusing on presence, restraint, and emotional depth. The work seeks to tell the truth, balancing technical discipline with inward inquiry.
