Most of Shirley’s work took place on the streets during daylight, but occasionally, she would venture into discothèques or concert venues.
Shirley was fascinated by youth as a marker of change in fashion, culture, ideologies, and other movements. Much like an educator whose students remain always at the same age, but throughout time, they look, think, and act differently, molding the teacher’s identity; not so much the other way around.
